Waitrose has opened a new branch and cookery school in the restored Grade II-listed Midland Goods Shed marking the completion of the latest phase in the redevelopment of King’s Cross. The store opened to the public on the 23rd September following an eight week fit out construction programme by main contractor RG Group . It becomes only the third Waitrose cookery school and its second in London. The branch is also the first ever Waitrose with a working beer pump, which will be supplied by Camden Brewery, and forms part of the shop’s wine bar. The new store has been designed to allow the Victorian architecture to be sensitively refurbished and restored, breathing new life into the former railway passenger terminal and goods depot. Much of the structure’s original brick and iron work has been retained to create a unique supermarket environment where historic signage can be seen by customers. All electrical systems including Mains Distribution, LED Lighting, Power, Fire Alarms, BMS, Security, CCTV, Data, Public Address and Generator Systems were designed, supplied and installed by Paul Earl Ltd.
